Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide an outreach program to enhance the personal, educational, occupational, communal and spiritual development of the youth by providing positive role models.  Mentorship Program provides a support system to counteract the negative influences of the urban environment and assists in the prevention of academic failure, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse and other social ills.

Program Service Profile

To provide Mentoring and Life Skills Training Services to All DCP&P referred youth in Paterson and Passaic County.  All referred youth are assigned a same gender trained and experienced Adult Senior Mentor.  The Senior Mentor is exclusively involved in the personal growth, career development, lifestyle enhancement and goal achievement of their assigned Mentee.

The Senior Mentor meets with their Mentees once a week for one hour individual sessions.  (The one on one sessions are scheduled between the hours of 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday).

In addition to the one on one Mentor/Mentee session, Mentees are required to attend Calvary’s Life Skills Session held every Thursday from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.  Mentees are transported to & from the church site.

The Life Skills Class is taught by a Certified Life Skills Instructor (High School Principal in the Paterson School District).

Life Skills Curriculum

The curriculum’s for the Life Skill Class is derived from a rites of passage training program for youth.  A Ten (10) month Rites of Passage Curriculum was developed to guide our monthly topics:

*Historical *Cultural

Service Area:

Paterson Passaic, Clifton, Haledon, Woodland Park, Hawthorne, Prospect Park and Wayne, New Jersey.
